The Story Mode is similiar to Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm and Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm  , but unlike the previous game Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations , they have battles against bosses that include quick time events and requires the use of strategies to defeat the opponent. The plot starts from the end of Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 , but is initially focused on the attack of the Nine-Tailed Fox Leaf Village with the player controlling the characters who are defending the village. The play shows the events of World War adapting most episodes that forão longer displayed when the game was released. was also included the "Ultimate Decision" mode, which gives the option to change the outcome of battles, resulting in alternative histories .
